Understanding the Cost of Plastic Surgery: Financing & Payment Plan Options

Dr Carmen Munteanu - Female Plastic Surgeon

Cost is one of the first things most people want to understand when they’re considering plastic or cosmetic surgery — and it’s a fair question. Here’s an honest look at how pricing works at Aesthetik Profile, and the payment and financing options available to you.

Why prices vary from person to person

There’s no single “price list” for plastic surgery, because no two patients are the same. Your cost depends on factors like:

  • Your individual anatomy and surgical needs
  • Which procedure (or combination of procedures) you’re having
  • The hospital and length of theatre time required
  • Whether you’re eligible for a Medicare rebate
  • Whether you’re privately insured

Because of this, you’ll receive a fully customised quote at your consultation with Dr Carmen, rather than a generic price. This quote forms part of your informed financial consent and will outline:

  • Hospital costs (based on theatre time and length of stay)
  • Surgeon’s fee
  • Anaesthetist’s fee
  • Assistant’s fee (if applicable)
  • Implant fee (if applicable)
  • Any relevant Medicare item numbers

Consultation fees

A cosmetic consultation with Dr Carmen is $300 (inc GST). This is a genuinely educational, collaborative appointment — time to talk through your concerns, ask questions and understand your options before making any decisions.

How payment works

  • Your theatre date is secured with a deposit of 10% of the surgical fee
  • Full payment is required at least three weeks prior to your scheduled surgery date
  • You can pay by bank transfer, cash, or Visa credit card (a 1.3% surcharge applies to card payments)

Payment plans and medical finance

If you’d like to spread the cost, medical finance and payment plan providers are available to help fund your surgery. Our Pricing & Payment Plans page has more detail, and our team is always happy to talk through your options over the phone.

Can you use your superannuation?

In some circumstances, early access to your superannuation may be available to help fund surgery — this generally applies to procedures like abdominoplasty (tummy tuck), breast reduction, body contouring, arm lift, nose surgery, or skin reduction after significant weight loss or bariatric surgery.

Early release is assessed by the Australian Taxation Office for medical procedures treating life-threatening illness or chronic pain, and the final decision rests with your own super fund — not every fund allows it. You can find out more via the ATO website or by contacting your fund directly.

Will Medicare or private health cover any of it?

Some procedures with a Medicare item number may attract a partial rebate, depending on your individual circumstances. This is worth discussing at your consultation — our Medicare coverage page has more information.

Still have questions?

Cost shouldn’t be a source of stress or confusion. If you’d like to talk through your options, we’re only a phone call or email away.
