Dr Gary Kode is an experienced Specialist Plastic Surgeon with over three decades of experience in reconstructive and aesthetic surgery. His medical career began at the University of Cape Town, where he earned his MBChB in 1981. After securing his Fellowship in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery in 1991, he spent several years working as a Senior Lecturer and Visiting Medical Officer at the University of Natal.
Following this Dr Kode transitioned into private practice, where he performed a wide range of procedures. His dedication to surgical care led him to Tasmania, where he established a successful private practice and conducted more than 25,000 procedures across the face, body, and breast.
In 2001, Dr Kode was formally recognised with a Fellowship from the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS). His commitment to the profession extended beyond the operating theatre, serving as a Councillor for the Medical Council of Tasmania (2003–2008) and contributing to humanitarian work as a Rotary International Surgeon (ROMAC), for which he was honoured with a Paul Harris Fellowship in 2008.
In 2012, Dr Kode was appointed Head of the Plastic Surgery Unit at Launceston General Hospital. By 2018, he had developed a fully accredited teaching unit, furthering education and training for future plastic surgeons.
After over two decades of practice in Tasmania, Dr Kode relocated to Victoria to focus on cosmetic and elective procedures within a well-established private clinic.
